I swear I didn’t have “Rent this space” tattooed on my ass when I went to bed last night, but it would appear it’s there in full technicoloured glory when I got up this morning.

Thirty friend requests over the various community/photo rating sites I’m a member of.

Most from bands or businesses, obviously wanting free advertising and a few from some girls who… well lets just say the only information their profile didn’t specify was their hourly rate if you catch my drift.

Joan (aka blulady) was mentioning having to attend a meeting in a blog entry the other day and how boring they can be.

It got me thinking.

Those things are so boring, it never seems to matter what they are about, which industry you are in, you could easily all be sat in the same meeting the world over.

And how anyone can get so excited over a flipchart without the aid of chemical assistance is beyond me.

Ahh workmen, don’t you just love them?

Who else can give you an appointment time and turn up 3-4 hours early or late and act like this is perfectly acceptable and normal?

We’re getting a carpet fitted today. After 10:30 they said.

I get out the shower and find they are here and busy working having arrived before 8:30.

Apparently somebody in the store’s grandmother has had a stroke in the night…

Not to be cold and nasty, but do I care? What has that got to do with out carpet? Was she supposed to be fitting it?

Looks like they’ve finally got the burst water pipes fixed, day three and the pressure has finally returned to normal. Still I guess you have to feel for the people who have had no water at all for all this time.

There was a whole lot of complaining going on when they interviewed people standing in line for free bottled water, and I can understand why, cut off any utility, gas, water, electric… Whatever the reason and you discover just how much you’ve come to rely on both it, and the convenience of it.

Still, it’s the first time it’s happened in over 30 years… We’ve lived here that long and nobody remembers it happening before…

Could be worse, we could live down south where the water company leaves them with leaky pipes, wasting so much water they have a shortage every year, and where water appears to go off regularly because they’re too lazy and too cheap to fix problems before they occur, let alone the second they arise.

Ours normally has any problem fixed within an hour or two.

So I think we can afford to cut them some slack.

There was an American on the news earlier.

Now I know that’s not exactly shocking, although it is unusual for it to be an unknown American person on the British news.

It was a man who had decided he needed to lose weight, and was going to walk from San Diego, across the country to New York.

Now on the one hand, I think it’s great that someone decides their weight is a problem and takes a proactive approach, rather than just expecting some magic pill to fall on them that will turn them into a catwalk model over night.

After much research and testing, I’m sorry to say such a pill does not exist, I’ve looked and looked, and I still don’t look like a catwalk model, and I look very odd in a bikini…

But I digress…

Had the person in question started a healthy eating and fitness regime, I’d have been impressed… But walking from one side of the country to the other…

What is it with people and text speak lately?

So many people are using it these days, are they mentally challenged in some way, or just out and out lazy?

I can see the point in text messages on mobiles, where you’re restricted to the number of characters you can use per message, but I just can’t see the point of it in emails, IM’s and blog entries.

Let’s face it…

It’s a nightmare to try and read, and I wouldn’t have said it was any easier to try and type, especially when you’re sat at a full sized keyboard…

Hmm who knew there was a song about dentists on Little Shop of Horrors? Not me that’s for sure

Still it seems appropriate.

We got a letter this morning to say that our dentist is going private, and will no longer be offering NHS services.

You’d think this would be good, wouldn’t you? Whilst you might have to pay instead of getting it free (or mostly free) you’ll at least get seen much faster and with better service.

Here’s a question, eBay… anyone else sometimes look at the pictures and wonder why people bothered?

Some people use such poor pictures you’re hard pushed to tell what it is even supposed to be, let alone whether it’s something that you want to buy… A fact that really bugs me!

I’ve just been watching the news tonight (something I try not to do too often :-D) But I thought it was interesting that they’re already talking about the 2012 Olympics that are set to be held in London.

I feel it only fair to mention that I’m not a fan of sports, I think they’re fun to do, a waste of time to watch, and the profession sportsmen/women and athletes are overpaid and a waste of good money. But that’s just me.

Saying that, I still think what the… Well I assume it’s the government… is planning to do is just as wrong.

What is it about website coding people and programmers that makes them all so rude?

Is it something they put in the water, or just a required course they take along with basic web design and advanced language coding?

I’ve noticed this a lot lately. They ask for people to beta test whatever it is they’re working on, then moan and bitch when people report back all the things that aren’t working, or further suggestions.
