Woot, yay me!
I finally got a few things figured out on this thing (I’ve only had this blog software a couple of years now after all…)
I finally have high speed comments, no more waiting around for 10 minutes to see if the thing has actually saved a comment.
The anti-spam is still a bit awkward, it likes people to be using a regular ip address and give their email address so it can ok their comments. Without the email, or if it’s a new ip address, it’s still sticking them in the pending box until I’m online to authenticate them.
Still, I guess I should be happy, at least this way there is no chance of spam messages or trackbacks getting posted on my site!

Ho-hum, three days of scanning and I’m too dead to care.
At least I should get the feeling back in my arms and neck in a week or so.
On top of that I finally got all the journal software updates tweaked into submission and got my gallery software installed, setup and working.
A very very long weekend, but a nice change to have something to show for it…
Now I just have to start uploading pictures into said gallery… But that’ll have to wait till I have feeling back in my fingers

That’s my journal updated, it’s only taken 4 days but I finally gave up, deleted the lot and installed from scratch instead of trying to update the thing. Of course then I had to fiddle on fixing all the templates. But the good news was it gave me a good excuse to trawl the plugin lists and update what I had and add a few more to my collection.
I’m currently trying a new comment approval system, before I had to input email addresses of trusted commenters into a master list via my servers database software. This new one (if it works) will let me just click a button. It will then cross reference name, email address, website and ip address details to verify the person is who they say they are when leaving a comment.

The server ate my journal
Well, something like that.
I spent all Friday night upgrading my journal software… (Yes I know, I need to get a life!)
Then after all that work, my journal vanished, the files were still there, but most of the pages were displaying the “page not found” error.
Thankfully the ever ready server mistress restored my site backup so everything is fully functioning again. It’s still the old software, but at least it’s all there.

Well I’ve gone and done it…
I’ve just ordered a new website logo.
I’m feeling quite productive today, so I’m taking advantage. There’s an update to my journal software and to my gallery software, so I figured it was a good time to update both and get my photo gallery sorted out once and for all.
I’ve been holding off because I want to add a logo watermark to my photos, and some of them will be naked fraggle branded, and others will be used by my other site, the one I’m wanting to set up as a business.

Well things seem to be going reasonably well with my new system. I’ve rejiggled my hard drive and gone back to a duel-boot, so I can log into either windows or linux until I get the virtual system figured out fully, since it won’t pick up any usb connections, and there are no linux drivers for my scanner, colour printer, either digital camera or my mini-disc player.
*sigh*
Nothing’s ever easy is it?
Still, it’s great for the internet, I’ve never had pages load so fast on windows, you’d think my broadband had doubled in speed overnight (which it hasn’t… I had to check to be sure it’s so fast)

I think I’m finally just about there. Linux with all the trimmings, access to a virtual windows drive… Yep I’m just about all set. Only downside is having to still keep windows on the drive so I can play my computer game. Turns out laptops tend to tweak their graphics cards, so the official drivers don’t work properly, only the manufacturers drives work. Naturally that means the official linux drivers have the same problems. Not an issue for normal things, but causes some serious upset hardware if you try to run graphic intensive computer games.
Still I’ve got everything else up and running, and I’ve got my nice shiny desktop… Well Desktops, as I get 4 of them
(clicky for the big picture)

Quick opinion poll, this is the logo I’ve got it down too… what do you think? Am I copyright safe do you reckon?

I wouldn’t have believed how difficult it would be to get a decent looking logo if you’d asked me a couple of weeks ago.
When I started looking at getting a logo for my journal, there were literally hundreds of places on eBay. Mind you, to this day I still can’t understand why so many places think that for it to be “professional” it has to be bland, dull and generally uninteresting…
But I digress…
I found one that had samples I liked the look of and went with them.

Looks like I’m still logoless. Kind of my own fault I guess, I found somewhere cheap on ebay that did logos, but I didn’t really allow for the fact that I had something pretty specific in mind, nor did I check to confirm they logos were drawn by hand, rather than clipart/template stock images put together to create logos.
On the other hand, the person doing it has been in hospital, which obviously put a crimp in the production speed, and he has managed to get someone else who is hopefully going to be able to draw the required element of the logo (that would be the naked fraggle… They’re just so hard to find apparently :-p)
So all being well, I’ll have a nice shiny logo within another couple of weeks *cross every appendage he can find*
I want my logo NOW damnit!
