Still computerless *wails*
I can get mine to do a complete bootup about one in every 8 attempts, and even then it’s potluck if the power holds long enough to use it or if the motherboard fizzles out the second it’s fully loaded.
I’ve got my eye on a snazzy high power linux desktop with an even snazzier liquid cooling system. I’ll not be as portable as I was with my laptop…

I’m topless… Erm, laptopless rather.
My laptop just blew up on me (again).
I really don’t seem to have much success with laptops and their lifespan. My first one blew up in spectacular fashion after 12.5 months, my second one had a repetative hard drive malfunction (it kept gouging great chunks out of them on a monthly basis) my third laptop fell down the stairs with me attached after 14 months, and this one fizzled out after 25 months.

That can’t be good.
The news has just been on and apparently half the country is currently underwater, and much of the country, particularly the North East has had the wettest day and the wettest June since records began back in the early 1800’s.
There’s also been a tornado spotted somewhere not too far away too. I seem to remember reading that Britain actually has one of the highest number of tornadoes every year, just they don’t normally touch down. But this one did.

Just a few quotes snaffled from across the internet
Beauty is an experience, nothing else. It is not a fixed pattern or an arrangement of features. It is something felt, a glow or a communicated sense of fineness. What ails us is that our sense of beauty is so bruised and blunted, we miss all the best.
D. H. Laurence
For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it.
For every truth there is an ear somewhere to hear it.
For every love there is a heart somewhere to receive it.
Ivan Panin
It’s beauty that captures your attention; personality which captures your heart.
Unknown
I’m tired of all this nonsense about beauty being only skin-deep. That’s deep enough. What do you want - an adorable pancreas?
Jean Kerr
Beauty is all very well at first sight; but who ever looks at it when it has been in the house three days?

I’ve been out for most of the day (yay me!) I got a nice little host of photos, but I’m too pooped to process them for posting, so I’ll have to keep that until tomorrow. For now I’ll just leave you with a baby wood pigeon.
We’ve had a whole flock of baby starlings floating about the place the past few week. You can see them growing up and getting their adult feathers, but we’ve not seen any other babies yet.
Once upon a time we used to have swarms of baby sparrows at the bird table, all flapping their little wings with excitement and demanding to be fed. But that’s been a few years now.
Still, tonight we finally saw another baby. This time it was a baby wood pigeon.

Looks like the ongoing struggle to feel vaguely human is still plodding along…
Grief I sound like the tin man from Wizard of Oz… Or something out of weird science… I feel like there should be a heavy thunderstorm, plenty of lightening and a black and white movie in the background with a mad scientist shrieking “It’s alive… Alive I say…!”

Well I guess it makes a change from Debbie Does Dallas (I’m assuming that’s a porn film, sounds like it should be that’s for sure :-D)
Anyway, anyone seen The Hogfather, based on the Terry Pratchet books? If you have, you’re bound to remember Teatime, that’s him over there…

And why not I ask you?
The way this past week has shaped up I’m going to have to buy a canoe.
It started raining on Tuesday night, and other than about an hour on Thursday morning it rained constantly until yesterday.
According to the news there’s a lot of places underwater now, since they had a full months worth of rain all falling on Friday.

It just occurred to me yesterday how quiet it’s been around here lately.
We’ve not had a bus going past in well over a week (it may even be two by now).
It seems quite odd not seeing them, and more so hearing them.
I remember when they first put the bus stop at the bottom of our driveway… You wouldn’t believe the hullabaloo that was kicked up by all the neighbours, but as usually happens with these things, the complaints fell on deaf ears and the powers that be carried on doing whatever the hell they wanted to anyway.

So rumour has it that A certain Paris Hilton just doesn’t “do” prison.
Oh the poor dear…
Three days into her sentence she has a sudden (and a tad convenient) medical problem, which apparently caused the sheriff’s department to decide she should be sent home.
I guess state correction has gone slightly down hill… Heck people have more bother trying to get sent home from school early!
Still, I’m sure that having to wear an ugly, non-designer ankle bracelet, with a range too small to cover her entire mansion, and no shopping spree’s will really get the point of the punishment home to the poor girl…
After all, she’s going to have to do her shopping by internet and telephone, and any parties will have to be held at her own house, and only in certain rooms…
*rolls eyes*
