I was right; it has been rather warm lately. Apparently it’s been the hottest month ever recorded… at least since they actually started keeping records…

But I’m guessing it probably is the hottest ever.

After all, this is England, land of the rain and green grass…

This is what it usually looks like:

Nice and green, even in summer.

This is what it’s looked like for the past few weeks:

More than a little yellow and dead looking.

Just as well it’s been a bit cooler today, since the water mains burst in one of the neighbouring towns at around 4am this morning.

I thought there didn’t seem much pressure this morning, but thousands have had no water all day according to the news. The water board has been frantically dropping off water tankers around the region, and bottled water collection centres.

Or water company is very good, usually if anything happens, they have it fixed and sorted within a couple of hours… This time they’re still frantically trying to find the rupture.

At lunchtime they’d managed to narrow it down to about 25 miles of pipe, by tonight they’d got it down to 3 miles. Currently they have a collection of people walking the line trying to locate the problem so they can finally get down to the task of fixing it.

Good thing too, an hour and a half to take a shower because the water keeps going off is not fun!
