‘Cause it’s too darn hot, it’s too darn hot…

07/31/2006

I was right; it has been rather warm lately. Apparently it’s been the hottest month ever recorded… at least since they actually started keeping records…

But I’m guessing it probably is the hottest ever.

After all, this is England, land of the rain and green grass…

This is what it usually looks like:

Jessie paint your picture…

Well I’ve gone and done it…

I’ve just ordered a new website logo.

I’m feeling quite productive today, so I’m taking advantage. There’s an update to my journal software and to my gallery software, so I figured it was a good time to update both and get my photo gallery sorted out once and for all.

I’ve been holding off because I want to add a logo watermark to my photos, and some of them will be naked fraggle branded, and others will be used by my other site, the one I’m wanting to set up as a business.

Everywhere you go , always take the weather with you…

Who’d have thought that light rain on hot asphalt could smell so good!?!

It was only a light shower, but still, it’s a start. First rain we’ve had in about 6 weeks, and it’s brought the temperature down slightly, it’s only 77 degrees, it’s been around 89 the past week. Of course the humidity has been down to about 48% the past couple of days and is now back up to 60%

I don’t really understand the whole temperature/humidity thing, all I know is, the heat I can cope with, but the higher the humidity gets the more allergies I end up with and the harder it is to breathe.

Meh, oh well, it’s not too long till winter is due to start again…

Walk the dinosaur…

I don’t think I’ll ever understand the mentality of utility companies.

The news was saying earlier that we can expect drastic rises in the cost of gas and electric. And when I say drastic, they’re talking double or more on average.

The reason for this…?

They’re running out, and they need to increase their revenue so they can make alternative arrangements to get the fuels imported from abroad.

Umm… And how is this such a shock to them?

They’ve been expecting the fuels to run out since the early 80’s that I can remember!

On the outside looking in…

I don’t go in for astrology at all, but I do find it interesting how accurate the personality descriptions can be with things like the Chinese births etc.

I pilfered this celtic one form someone’s journal the other day… Unfortunately I was so busy copying and pasting, I forgot to make a note of who’s journal it was to give them mention… So if it was yours… thank you muchly for the snaffle :-D
Mine is very accurate I’d say… can you guess which one I am? :-p (and no I’m not telling)

You got to love British weather, it’s too hot or humid to breathe, clammy like you wouldn’t believe… They’ve been forecasting thunderstorms for the past week, but we’re still waiting.

There’s not a drop of air to be had, and it’s so hot all clothing feels like it’s just been taken out of an oven…

Yet it’s dull, cloudy and windy.

*looks bemused*

Have I mentioned how British weather makes no sense at all?

I really need to emigrate to somewhere that has a less deranged weather system.

Anyone want a lodger? :-D

All around me are familiar faces…

This son’g been going around my head all night, there’s something so haunting about it, probably something to do with the reality behind the sentiments…

Still it’s an improvement on some of the others I’ve been humming to myself today… And I blame swydm members for those, saw them posted in journals and just had to sing along to them…

*sigh*

Another day another hosepipe attack on teh garden… :-D

So I said I’d list the signs you know you’ve over watered the garden.

Well first there’s the obvious ones…

  • You stand on the soil and sink up to your waist.
  • The neighbours house disappears in a mud slide.
  • You find yourself only willing to water the garden in a wetsuit and full scuba gear.
  • And in my case, you water the garden during a heat wave and drought and it’s still looking wet a week later.

Then of course there’s the less obvious, more subtle signs…

Don’t you just hate it when you read someone’s blog and they’re having problems, you feel for them so much, but there’s just nothing you can say that’s going to help in any way shape or form, and you’re kind of stuck for anything else to say…

So instead you say nothing and kind of skulk back out and hope they don’t notice you visited and said nothing.

There’s times I really hate the impersonal aspects of online life.

The rain goes on, and on again…

This ME (or CFS to you non British) has to be the strangest illness ever. Two days ago I was happy if I could manage to chew solid food. Today I’m high as a kite, and for the first time in two years I actually went outside the front door for entertainment purposes.

In two years, two trips for hospital appointments and a funeral has been the sum total of my trips out of the house. Today I’m in the back garden with a hosepipe watering the plants.

T’was a nice change of pace, that’s for sure.

My father and I have totally different principles to plant watering. My father’s method is if the soil has more than 3 drops of water in it, then it’s watered.
