Won’t you come on and rescue me…

08/29/2005

What a way to start a Monday morning. Gently awoken to the sound of screaming, snarling, arguing and shouting drifting up from the back garden.

Well seen my father’s holidays from work have started.

Anyone got any sedatives? I think I might need them…

This is only Monday, he’s here for another 2 weeks yet, and already I can’t cope!

You think it’s too late to move?

You don’t bring me flowers, you don’t sing me love songs…

08/20/2005

I’ve never been able to understand this obsession of giving people flowers when they aren’t well.

I know it’s probably just me, but it makes no sense at all.

Surely if someone is ill, the last thing they are going to want to do is start having to hunt around for a vase, hack the bottom off the stem of every flower, start mixing the powders into water which will have to be changed every day. Especially when they flowers will then have to be checked every day and the dead ones removed, and the whole lot will be dead long before the person is feeling better.

Am I the only one that thinks most people would rather curl up in the corner and rest/wallow, rather than have to start this flurry of activity for something that will usually be dead in 2 days anyway?

Chill out, what you yelling for…

08/18/2005

Well it’s that time of year again. Time for everyone to wake up in a cold sweat while they wait for the mail and their exam results.

Personally I’m not a big fan of exams, mostly because they don’t test your ability, just your memory.

But what really bugs me is people’s attitude to them.

Our whole school lives we’re told that exams are the be-all and end-all of everything. How we do in our exams will determine what we can do for the rest of our lives.

But now we’re being told that the exams aren’t what they used to be, and that they’re becoming too easy, because too many people are passing them.

Wigs on fire! Wigs on fire! Take it… Higher…

08/17/2005

It’s just turned 9am, and for once I’m actually awake, eaten and showered… This is a first!

And to top it off I’ve actually cut my own hair too. Just around the ears, it’s getting so long again, and I got sick of having to hook it behind me ears… Made me feel like a short Katie Holmes from Dawson’s Creek.

Mind you, I almost feel like I should have taken photos after I finished cutting it.

It’s sad really… But I’m actually quite proud of the fact that it looks pretty natural, you really can’t tell that I stood there hacking at it with a tiny hand mirror and the nail scissors :-D

My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, and they’re like, it’s better than yours…

08/16/2005

Well last week my mother was worried that I wasn’t getting enough vitamins and the likes, as I was living on 4 slices of toast and about a dozen biscuits per day.

This week she’s worried I’m going to OD on milk…

I can’t imagine why… I mean chocolate milk (those packet meals for the old and sick), cheese and ice cream is a balanced healthy diet isn’t it? :-D
Having said that, I’ve moved from my 4 slices of toast and a packet of biscuits to chocolate meal drinks (eaten 2 at a time, naturally :asbestos:), 5-10 cheese slices and half a tub of Belgian chocolate Haagan Dazs per day…

Seems quite reasonable to me :chocolate:

Meh, what do I know… Is 5 pints of milk a day excessive?

Show me the colours of the dawn…

I think swydm.com needs to have another look at their latest photos list, since half the people in the top 100 haven’t even been on the site in between 6-12 months. When I got on this morning I had an updated photo message for one of my favourites who has not been seen online since April.

Anyway, I’ve had a fairly productive weekend. Managed to catch up on some journal reading, clear out some DVD’s, managed to find a gadget to remove the region lock on my DVD player, and won both seasons of Popular on Ebay.

So a busy and happy fraggle today :-D
Now I just need to set up my new printer to test, since it arrived 2 weeks ago and I still haven’t had the energy to even open the box!

Oh Danny boy…

08/14/2005

Here’s a question, before I have to go supervise my father emptying the loft… I swear that man can’t do a thing without adult supervision…

Anyway, the question.

I was watching Alexander (the directors cut) last night, and I’m curious…

They are supposed to be Greeks, Persians and Asians…

Colin Farrel has a pretty decent American accent, so why was the entire cast talking with an Irish accent, bar Angelina Jolie who had an almost Russian sounding accent?

Also, how come the make-up department managed to make all the Asians look like white Americans in fake tan and stick on beards?

Or was it just me that thought all this?

On the plus side, when you got past the accent and the make-up, the film wasn’t all that bad. It could have had more story, but I thought they did pretty well with what they had.

Where do you go, Oh, oh, oh, oh…

08/13/2005

Ok so the title is terrible, but it was the first thing to come into my head that had any relevance to the entry… The entry being the required “where have you been for the past several months” entry.

I knew I hadn’t been very active in here lately, but I hadn’t realised the last time I did any regular journal entries was way back in February. I’ve had nearly half a year without a proper journal entry to my name.

A far cry from the two or three entries a day I used to manage. Some days I would actually have up to 10 entries which I would write and then filter in over the following week.

:sigh: How things change.

So… where have I been and what have I been up to?

Want more and more, people just want more and more…

08/11/2005

Or at least I do anyway. The poor postman must have given himself a hernia delivering my mail this morning.

A DVD website had a special offer on and I just had to take advantage of it :-D
Muppets Treasure Island - Yay
Dark Crystal - Ooo, haven’t seen this one in years
Who Framed Roger Rabbit - You can’t beat the kids movies
Hocus Pocus - Bette Midler is my idol :-D LadyHawke - got to love a good Sword and Sorcery film
The Secret Garden - I remember the British TV series version of this
A Man Apart - total waste of DVD time (shame I didn’t know that before I bought it)
Cheaper By The Dozen - Not seen it so can’t comment
Animal Attraction - Nice Romantic comedy to round of the set
