I started looking for a warning sign…

01/31/2005

The TV show I’ve just been watching was discussing stupid notices and signs.

I saw one not that long ago on sleeping pills that said, “May cause drowsiness”. Of course you’re reading it thinking “I should hope it’s going to do more than just make me drowsy!”

The guest on the show said he’d seen a sign in his local supermarket the other day that said, “Please do not fondle the fruit, ask for Julie.” :wiggle:

I’ve seen signs asking customers not to fondle the fruit before, but it’s the first I’ve heard of them offering an alternative…

Begs the question, are they offering Julie to fondle the fruit on your behalf, or are they offering Julie for you to fondle instead of the fruit…? :asbestos:

No fair!

I’ve just lost my cushions!

My mother has this bug that I’ve had, and found the same thing I did, she can’t breathe when she’s lying down, so I said she could use my cushions to prop herself up to go to sleep (I can’t sleep upright anyway, so I only use them to watch TV.)

Any other time she’d be up until at least 3am… Today she decides to go to bed at midnight, and I haven’t watched my new DVD yet… :sigh:

Guess I’m watching in the chair tonight :-((

I feel so… Deprived…

Or shoudl that be depraved? :asbestos:

It’s cold out here mother…

It’s been a while since I listened to the album “Under a Sun” by Witness. I used to listen to it on the way to work when i was at the Italian restaurant, and I haven’t listened to it since.

It brought back so many memories as I listened to it while I cleaned up after the electrician had been today.

I’ve been singing this particular song (closing up) ever since… It always was my favourite one on the album for some reason…

It’s the hard-knock life for us!

I’m sickened, I really am.

There was an item in the local paper today about a dog that had been abandoned on the local beach.

Now I’m an animal lover, so i think that’s bad enough. I’m a firm believer that if you can’t look after a pet, you shouldn’t get it in the first place.

But that’s not the half of it. They actually stuffed the dog, a little Jack Russell into a postal sack, weighed the end closed with an old car battery, and left the sack on the beach so the tide would come in and drown the dog.

In the new day I’ll find things aren’t so bad at all…

Well, at long last, I’ve finally got my new journal started. :bounce: Now I can make it up as I go along :-D
If you’re viewing my homepage, the link is over on the left or here. If you’re viewing through swydm.com, both journals will be displayed there from tomorrow.

To make life easier, I’m not copying my journal notification list, so if you want to be notified of journal updates, you’ll need to supply your email to the new journal. Happy reading :dances:

The Smurf Report - Catwoman

I always have mixed feelings about the recent flurry of comic book adaptations that Hollywood has been releasing. On the one hand, I look forward to seeing favourite comic heroes coming to life on the big screen (or in my case on the TV in the corner :-p). But on the other hand, there is always that worry (which I feel is justified) that Hollywood will do something to screw it up, either by changing key historical facts and events or with poor casting, as they have done in so many of the comic conversion films.

Because of this (and the fact that I didn’t expect anyone to be able to even come close to Michelle Pfeiffer’s portrayal of Catwoman) I wasn’t expecting much from the new Catwoman film.

The Smurf Report - The Bourne Supremacy

I had high hopes for this film, since I had enjoyed Bourne Identity so much. Unfortunately it was quite a let down!

Whilst the first film was predominantly an action film, there were enough plot twists and surprises to give it an edge of mystery.

I wouldn’t say I didn’t enjoy Bourne Supremacy, because I did. There was just nothing special about it. It felt rather formulaic.

I shall never breathe again…

At least I’m starting to think that!

That’s the only part of colds that I don’t like, you can’t enjoy being ill, sitting down for one marathon DVD session after another, because you have to keep stopping to mop your face, or wipe down your TV as part of what I like to call “Sneeze Control”.

Plus, with all the modern technology we have, how is it they still can’t come up with a tissue that doesn’t feel like sandpaper after 10 minutes?

*wails* I’ve lost my voice!

It’s true, for the first time in recorded history I’ve actually lost my voice… It’s never happened before. I’ve been a little croaky at times, but it’s never abandoned me completely before…

*checks under bed*

I wouldn’t care, but people have been praying to all manor of deities for years, just in the hopes that this day would come.

:sigh: I think I’ve got a cold… (Hence the lack of decent entry title)

Funny thing about my colds… I don’t sneeze any more than usual. First my head starts to feel like a pressure tank, and then my nose starts to dribble, then run.

If I follow my fathers pattern, since I have the pressure build-up, plus the leaky nose, swollen and sore throat and weak limbs, then I must by dying! (In his case we live in hope… :-D)

Personally, other than them being irritating, colds don’t bother me much… It’s more whether they’ll cause a relapse in my ME (CFS for you Americans) that concerns me. :-s

So if you’ll all excuse me, I have every intention of crawling back to my duvet and spend the day watching TV and playing computer games.

Toodles!
