I see dead people
09/26/2004
Well someone was in quite a mood last night. What with the pouting, the complaining and the ordering…
Then at 4am she decided that she just couldn’t possibly go back to sleep unless I sat on the floor and held her paw until breakfast time.
I had a very numb bottom by 5:30, I can tell you!
Yes it was this little monster that I’m talking about…
Looks so innocent doesn’t she?
Don’t let it fool you, she’s anything but innocent!
She bullies me :-((
And she made me stay up until after 6:30am before I could get to bed… And I had to get up at 11:30am to get ready for her trip to the vets.
But she got her acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, massage therapy and magnetic therapy, so she was quite happy… (I’m glad one of us was!)
Then we had a little wander around the grounds and came back home.
I’m happy about that part at least.
The vet is confident that all her internal organs are in perfect working order and that she’s not in much pain, given her normal voracious appetite, he’s fairly certain she’s just nervous about her legs not doing what they are told, rather than it being pain related.
:dances:
So she’s with us for a while longer.
Apparently the oldest Labrador the vet has treated was almost 18 when it died.
Bonnie is just over 17 and a half, and being the type of personality that she is, I’m certain that she’s planning to have that Labrador well beat!
And the vet thinks she has a good chance. The only problem she has is the degenerative nerve condition, which has been affecting her back legs for the past couple of years. He thinks that it’s progressed to her front legs and that, coupled with a touch of arthritis is the cause of her current limping state.
There again, since she didn’t limp in the slightest on the way out of the vets while she went exploring through the fields, but then suddenly redeveloped the limp when I told her she had to go back to the car so we could go home… Well let’s just say I’m not entirely convinced that she’s not faking rather a lot of it for the sympathy vote!
When we first started seeing this vet when she was 14, all the staff put her down as being about two years old… Now even with the limp everyone thinks she’s no more than 5.
Not bad for a dog approaching 18!
This next photo was taken this morning… Her tucked up in bed looking innocent again… (Remember it’s all a trick to lull you into a false sense of security; don’t believe a word of it!)
She currently looks exactly the same, bar the change of duvet cover and the fact that her back legs are crossed…
Doesn’t she look cute? ![]()
Since she is getting on and there is no telling what will happen, I’ve gone and ordered myself a new camera. It’s smaller and lighter than my current one, and has more auto-presets, so I should be able to carry it with me and hold it easier for instant snapshots.
I don’t really need another camera, given that I already have two, and my main one is such a good quality… Plus I can’t afford it… But I had my eye on it (yes it’s true I really will use any excuse :-D) But I want to be sure that I don’t miss any opportunities in future, and having to carry a camera that needs it’s own handbag for transport just isn’t really practical in a lot of situations…
Plus it’s cute…
And it has all those presets…
And did I mention that it’s cute? ![]()

Wow….17 1/2…she’s getting up there. I think our Maggie is approaching 15 or so.
Those dogs have their way of making us feel guilty if we don’t do as they want.
