It’s amazing how simple, little things can be turned into full-scale fiascos by the right (or should that be wrong person…

Case in point. You’d think getting a new carpet laid would be straightforward… Right?

Not in our house!

In our house getting a new carpet involves getting up at 5am to start moving furniture, frantic painting, patching of walls etc.

I swear, watching my father run around like a headless chicken, I’d think it was him who had been dropped on his head as a baby… Oh, wait… It was me that was dropped…

Well, I would be if I could actually see the moon.

I’ve given up on Linux for the time being, I was getting so many withdrawal symptoms, I decided to cut my losses and put windows back on. So, bar some final tweaking which I’ll do tomorrow, I’m back up and running :dances:

Since I never did finish of last month’s journal smurfing competition, I’ve decided to scrap it and do a different one first… Taking some photos at 2am for Kim’s competition, I had a small epiphany
Don’t worry I’ll explain all tomorrow… And you’ll get to see the picture that started it… I should warn you in advance… It involves far more flesh than usual! :asbestos:

Oh… The beast is awake and wanting to go in the garden… I guess that’s it for now then…

There’s something so relaxing about this time of night.

Sitting outside with the dog at 3am… It’s so quiet, so peaceful… It’s quite eerie too. everything was still, the trees weren’t moving, no noise of any kind… Only the sound of water flowing through the pipes under ground…

It’s like the world has stopped, frozen in a single moment, waiting for the rising of the sun so it can start to stir again.

Eerie, peaceful, thought provoking and strangely oppressive at the same time.

Well while I’m sat here, I might as well get my next journal entry typed, ready to post before going to bed in the morning… And maybe one ready to post when I get up again
I was watching the television while I was sat here last night… I can confirm, beyond any doubt… There sure is nothing but mindless c:censor::censor::censor: on tv during the night!

There was one interesting program (but it was a repeat of a documentary shown earlier in the day, which explains why it was more interesting :-p) which asked the question of whether society is over protecting their children.

And here I sit for night two of the “stay-up-doggy-sitting” bonanza…

For tonights entertainment… *looks at piles of discs* I had hoped to have the newest version of Linux Mandrake to experiment with, see if that will pick up all my hardware, but it’s still got 3 hours to download on the other machine, so I guess that will be tomorrows entertainment…

I’d expected to have a dully working computer by now, one way or another, but as it stands all I have is a windows machine with my web browser and the built in DVD software… Since i have no security or antivirus yet, I’m trying to stay offline except to post my journal entries…

*sigh* Emptying my mailbox is going to be a nightmare when I get access again… I get about 150 spam messages a day

I feel like Lurch of the Adams Family today… But then that’s lack of sleep for you. I had 3 hours sleep on Saturday night, another three on Sunday night and none at all last night… And I’m one of those people who needs nine hours sleep a night to function… Only I never get it
My father was away playing a tennis match last night… Only to come limping through the door at about 10:30 because half way into the game he pulled all the muscles in his leg… So he got the same level of sympathy as we get from him… *smirks*

Alright, so that last entry may have been a tad irritable… But I did warn you that I get cranky when I’m tired
I’m writing this on the big computer, it’s supposed to be a server for a home network… And you know, one of these days I might even get around to setting it up as a server
Fortunately I haven’t yet, otherwise I’d have no internet :-(( My laptop died… I’m trying to get at my files and back tem up as we speak… Or is that as I type… Whatever :-p

Someone, or rather a couple of some ones have given me low ratings on my photo at swydm… (I think I know who, since my karma jumped from 138 to 164, which always happens when I rate someone high and they later rate me very low…) I guess that means I should immediately go and upload the same picture to clear my rating and get back in the latest photos list so I can get higher ratings. :rollseyes:

I’m getting less journal reads than ever (although it’s amazing how many hits you suddenly get when you mention the word “porn” in an entry… Hmmm… :-D) So I guess that means I should immediately whine about how nobody loves me, nobody leaves comments and how the internet sucks, then I can delete my journal and start a new one the same day.

Todays entry will have to wait until tomorrow…

We got a new carpet (tomorrows entry), I steamed the bed, helped someone install and set up a CCTV security camera to dry and catch the evil little brats vandalizing and causing chaos in the neighbourhood, and i didn’t even get to sit with a video and my tub of Häagen-Dazs :-((

I guess it’s off to bed with a DVD instead then… But it’s just not the same!
