I’ve been looking at the photo rating photos again… There’s some scary people out there!

Or they just take a really bad photo… Or both…
But some of the poses… They’re just designed to have people laughing at them… The number of people who are trying to have a seductive pout, is astounding… And the number of them who manage to pull it off compared to the numbers who look like they’re trying to resuscitate a large fish is quite frightening!

I’m also a bit annoyed… I saw a movie download service, where you could subscribe and legally download movies online. I wasn’t expecting anything too much, I just wanted to be able to download the odd film that I wanted to look at to decide if it was worth buying or not.

So I decided to sign up and give it a whirl… Only after you sign up, you suddenly find that all they are offering is links to various file sharing (p2p) software and instructions on how to download and burn movies without getting caught… :puzzled: It could be me… But I’m pretty sure there is a huge difference between something being legal and just not getting caught!

I emailed them immediately to cancel it (that was Wednesday night) but I still haven’t had a reply. I called the bank to try and stop the payment, but they can’t do it on a card unless it’s an unauthorized transaction :-((

I do have one number, but I can’t work out if it is for the movie site themselves, or for the company who takes the payments on their behalf… I guess I’ll have to call them tomorrow if I haven’t heard anything and see if I can get anywhere that way, after all, $29 is a fair amount (when you’ve got no money) for a service that isn’t of any use… I’ve tried p2p software before and found it slow and unreliable… In fact just this past week I downloaded 8 Miles (it only took 3 and a half weeks) only to find it was the French version, so I still don’t know if it’s worth buying, I downloaded the new Harry Potter, which only took 2 days, only to find it was a talking book saved as a movie file rather than a sound file  then downloaded another version only to find (after 5 days of downloading) that it was the last hour of the film (with no signs of the first two hours) and that it was actually the first Harry Potter film (even though it was labelled as the newest film) and, to top it off, it was in German!

:sigh: Needless to say, I’m not that impressed with p2p downloading!
