What a day yesterday was.

Seven hours in a car is not my idea of fun. I was never the “Oh lets pile in the car and go for a drive” person before, but when my joints lock if I don’t keep moving them it suddenly becomes even less of a pleasure.

Anyway, the end result is that it was worth going, the doctor confirmed the diagnosis, and found the probable root cause, and has already started me on a course of treatments that he thinks should lead to a full and complete recovery. I also got a microscopic photo of the culprit bacteria, and a few tests that I do at home and send off to the labs for testing.

Well just in case anyone missed the news, tomorrow is ROAD TRIP!!!!

Three hour drive down to Bolton to see a specialist in ME (Chronic Fatigue for those in America) then I get to spend 45 minutes in some kind of overgrown test tube, then another 3 hour drive home again, several hundred pounds lighter (it’s a private specialist, and over here private means expensive!)

My grandfather has another infection so will be in hospital for a few days (we’ll wait and see if he makes another escape attempt like last time – will explain tomorrow).

I have been reading in journals and in the forum about the American woman who is being fed by a tube, and her Husband (or ex-husband I’m not sure which) is wanting to get the tube removed so she dies (he says that she never wanted to live like that), whilst her parents want to keep her alive by leaving the tube where it is.

I have a big problem with this kind of thing. On the one hand, killing is killing, no matter how you look at it. Starving a person to death is a cruel thing to do. On the other hand, is forcing a person to “live” by filling them full of tubes and machines any better than torture?
