My first and last pop/rock concert
04/20/2003
Ok so a reality TV show concert (Fame Academy), mixed age audience, ranging from about 5 years old to around 70 years old. Should be a gentle introduction to the concert scene, music won’t be too loud, the audience won’t be screaming so loud that you can’t hear a thing, right? Wrong!
It has to be said that sitting right below the batch of about 15 super-sized speakers, might not have been the best seats in the house, it took two days for my ears to stop ringing! But why concerts need to turn the volume up so loud that you can’t hear what the people on stage are saying/singing is beyond me.
The funniest part of the night was watching the parents and grandparents out-scream their children (ok teenage daughters if we’re honest) every time someone came on stage. Who knew walking was such a challenging-the singers almost got a standing ovation just for that!
It was a real eye opener I can say! It will never cease to amaze me how people will pay ridiculous amounts of money to get roaring drunk before the concert starts (there were two girls trying to take photos, but kept holding the camera the wrong way around and blinding themselves), and then stand there and scream for two hours. They can’t possibly hear a thing (never mind remember any of it)- What’s the point of it all.
So is it me, or is it them. I’d say them; either that or I’m just an old foggie before my time. Either way, that’s my rant for the day over with, I can go to bed happy now
